Polar Metadata Profile

As part of the SCAR DIMS Implementation Plan, and at the request of SAON (Sustaining Arctic Observing Networks) an international collaboration has begun to develop an ISO compliant metadata profile for Polar data. For more information please visit this website.

SCADM meeting, Palma de Mallorca, Spain, 7-9 September 2011

July 20 2011
Fifteen up to twenty-five persons from seventeen countries are expected to attend the meeting. The agenda will follow shortly. SCADM members are requested to inform Taco de Bruin, SCADM Acting Chief Officer, whether or not they will attend the meeting.

Next SCADM meeting in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, 7-9 September 2011

Oscar Bermudez, our Spanish SCADM member, has kindly invited SCADM to meet in conjunction with the VIII Spanish Symposium on Polar Research to be held in Palma de Mallorca, 7-9 September 2011. SCADM has gratefully accepted this invitation.

Most likely, SCAGI will also meet in conjunction with SCADM and we will have a similar setup as we had in Amsterdam in 2009, with joint plenary and separated parallel sessions. Mike Sparrow, SCAR Executive Director, plans to attend these meetings.

SCAR DIMS Implementation Plan published

April 7 2010
The SCAR Data and Information Strategy Implementation Plan has been published; copies can be downloaded from the Data & Information Strategy page, under "Documents".

DIMS Approved

The Data and Information Management Strategy (DIMS) has been approved by the SCAR Executive Committee. Read more about the DIMS here or on the SCAR site.

JCADM Renamed

As of January 2009 JCADM became a SCAR Standing Committee and was therefore renamed the Standing Committee on Antarctic Data Management (SC-ADM). SC-ADM now reports to the SCAR Delegates Committee on Scientific Affairs only and no longer reports to COMNAP.
